Calvanism

Dr. Norman L. Geisler wrote the book Chosen But Free. The book Chosen But Free, by Dr. Norman L. Geisler, talks about the differences between Calvinist and Arminianism. Geisler chooses the best of Calvinist and mixes many different ideas with some of the more appealing Arminian ideas. He opens up the book with critiquing theism which he calls it neotheism. Geisler goes on to talk about how God is in charge of everything we do and knows what paths we will take, but we do have a somewhat free choice on what we do. Geisler explains that this describes how God can retain His sovereignty and we as humans can remain free to choose which path we wish to follow. He would love for everyone to follow Him and trust in Him, and let Him take care of our problems unfortunately, many do not believe, nor trust Him. The issue of Calvanism and Arminanism have become a huge debate in the church and is tearing church's arpart. This should not be happening. I somewhat agree with Geisler. I do believe that people do have some free will to make descions but I think that God will end up chosing what we do with our lives. I am glad that the author did use both views on this topic so people can be informed on both sides. I did enjoy this book overall. It can be a little dry if you are not into theology though.

My Testimony

I was born on June 19th, 1989. My parents have always attended church, so when I was born, I was baptized in a Lutheran Church. When you are baptized in the Lutheran Denomination, you have met Jesus and have received your key to Heaven. Being baptized means the pastor of the church washes you in the holy water and you are declared a child of God. Once I got older, I have to go through a kind of "church school" called confirmation. When you go through this, you re-affrim your baptism and to show that you still know that God is in control of your life and that you do believe that He is the only way to Heaven. I went throught the long three year process of confirmation and I know that Jesus is the only way to Heaven. Once someone accepts that Jesus is the answer and the way, you cannot go back you your old life, you must change for Him. This type of relationship requires you to study His word and understand the truths and why they are facts. Once I came to Liberty University, my walk with Christ became even stronger becasue of the classes I have taken and the friends I have aquired. I know that Jesus is real and becasue of my baptism and my acceptence of Him during my confirmation, I will unite with Him in Heaven one day.
